Steve has managed a wide (and deep) range of projects over the years from procurement of a simple gas monitoring system right through to a complex fully automated longwall system or a shaft hoisting (winder) system. The overriding project control principles are the same in any project and the most important aspects are obviously to get what you want, on time and on budget.
Project reporting is a key deliverable in Steve’s arsenal and is based on an earned value methodology whereby you are in absolutely no doubt about where a project is at in respect to where it should be at. Steve has the software tools and experience to be able to tell you how a project is tracking at any instant in time and he can also predict completion dates and forecast final costs for you from any point. Of course some projects do get off track at times but should this ever happen under Steve’s watch, he will keep you abreast of developments in real time to enable you to take whatever management action you desire whilst there is still time (and money) to do so. Steve DOES NOT make management decisions which are outside of his authority and he most certainly DOES NOT work on the methodology that ‘….it’s easier to say sorry than please…’.
Steve strives for the ‘Positive Sum’ (Games Theory) in any endeavour and he believes that relationships with suppliers and contractors are key to the success of any project. Steve’s consultative interpersonal management style enables him to be able to take a difficult situation with personnel who aren’t getting on particularly well with one another and turn it into team effort whereby all participants end up being able to ‘live with’ the outcomes and deliverables.
